Overview
Soja is best known as the midway stop on the Kibiji Cycling Trail between Okayama and Takahashi. It packs five free historical sites within a few kilometers: burial mounds, provincial temples, and Kinojo Castle, the so-called Demon Castle linked to the Momotaro legend.

All Soja attractions are free. Food is around ¥1,000 per meal. Cash is king in this small city; carry yen for bike rental and local shops.
Transport
JR Kibi Line runs between Okayama (30 min, ¥510) and Takahashi via Soja Station. The Kibiji Cycling Trail is the best way to see multiple sites; bike rental at Soja Station costs ¥1,000/day.
Weather
Autumn (Oct-Nov) is peak season for foliage at Gokei Gorge and Iyama Hofukuji. Spring is pleasant. Summer is hot and humid; winter is cold. Bring layers for cycling in cooler months.
