Get in
Takahashi is accessed via JR Bitchu Takahashi Station on the Kishin line. Direct trains connect from Okayama, Niimi, and other nearby cities. The station serves as the main transit hub for reaching the castle, Fukiya village, and other attractions.

Getting around
Local buses connect Bitchu Takahashi Station to major attractions including the castle area. Taxis are available for the mountain castle approach, though visitors must walk the final section as no vehicles are allowed on the path. The Fukiya area and temple district are walkable from the station.

When to go
The Nariwa Atago Firework Festival takes place on the last Saturday in July with Edo-period roots. The Matsuyama Odori dancing festival occurs August 14-16 featuring samurai dance performances. The Fukiya Bengara Lantern Festival is held the third weekend in September from 17:00-20:00. For castle cloud viewing (unkai), November to March early mornings offer the highest chances.

Things to do
Bitchu Matsuyama Castle (¥300 entry) dates to the 17th century and sits atop Mount Gagyu as Japan's highest original castle. The Castle Viewpoint offers sea of clouds viewing 8.5 km from the station, accessible by early morning bus with advance reservation. Visitors can learn bengara dyeing at the Nishie Residence with small scarves at ¥1500 or long stole scarves at ¥3000 (reservation required 2 days ahead). The Hayama Gorge attracts rock climbers with scenic rock formations.
