Why go?

Zalakaros is a small spa town of 1,800 residents in the Lake Balaton region of Hungary, famous for its thermal bath complex opened in 1965. The town gained fame in 1962 when prospective oil drilling struck a nearly 96°C thermal spring at 2,000 meters depth. Today it attracts visitors seeking spa treatments and relaxation, offering an adventure bath, medical center, covered bath, pool bath, and tub bath facilities. Unlike busier Lake Balaton resort towns, Zalakaros provides a quieter atmosphere focused specifically on thermal wellness.
