Getting In
Nagykanizsa Train Station (Ady Endre utca 67, ticket office open 24 hours) sits on Railway Line 30 connecting Budapest to Zagreb via Fonyód. Bus Station (Báthory utca 2, ticket office M-F 07:30-17:00) provides regional connections. The M7 motorway passes west of the city with Letenye border crossing (28 km west) into Croatia. From Budapest, trains take approximately 3 hours; buses from major Hungarian cities connect regularly.

Getting Around
Local buses serve the city and surrounding areas. Three taxi companies operate: 6x6 Nagykanizsa Taxi, Kanizsa Taxi, and Taxi Kanizsa. Kanizsabike offers public bike rental with an annual pass system. The compact downtown (Erzsébet tér and Fő út) is walkable, with most sights within 15-20 minutes on foot.

When to Go
Summer (June-August) brings festivals including the Kanizsa Beer Festival (June), Military Horse Racing Competition (July), National Day (August 20), and Kanizsa Wine and Dödölle Festival (September). The National Doughnut Festival occurs in February. Lake Balaton's proximity makes Nagykanizsa popular as a quieter base outside peak lakeside season. Winter brings fewer tourists but the Advent Fair (December) offers seasonal events.
