Overview
Tarui is a small rural town in Gifu Prefecture that preserves a significant piece of Japan's feudal history as the 57th station of the Nakasendo trail. During its heyday as a post town, Tarui-juku had 315 hotels serving travelers between Kyoto and Edo.
