Overview
Punta Allen is a small fishing village in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located within the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve. It offers a friendly atmosphere with unspoiled beaches and a good number of places to stay, making it one of the last undeveloped spots in the Yucatan peninsula.

World-class flats fishing in Ascension Bay, bird watching, lighthouse walks, mangrove tours, reef snorkeling, and beach exploration. No development between Tulum and Punta Allen.

Restaurants Muelle Viejo and Taco Loco are popular. Home-based luncherias serve inexpensive regional fare in evenings. Grocery stores and Fishermen's Cooperative available for self-catering.
Money
Cash-based economy. Beer costs about $1 USD equivalent at local restaurants if staying a month or more, otherwise double. Credit cards may not be accepted at most establishments.
Safety
Generally safe small village. Remote location means limited emergency services. Standard precautions apply.
Transport
Rent a car or motorcycle in Tulum for best access to Punta Allen. Local taxis are available but less frequent.
