Overview
Mount Rinjani is an active volcano and Lombok's dominant natural landmark, offering one of Indonesia's most spectacular trekking experiences. At 3,726 m, it is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, and on clear days the summit views stretch across Lombok and beyond to Bali.

Mobile coverage very limited. Telkomsel best at crater rim campsites. Sat phone available at trek centre (charges apply).
Health
Mandatory medical check (Rp 15,000) before trek. Bring sunscreen — equatorial sun is intense at altitude.
Money
Park entry fee is Rp 150,000 per person. Medical check before trek is Rp 15,000. Homestay accommodation in Sembalun Lawang starts at Rp 175,000.
Safety
Active volcano with no medical facilities or helicopter evacuation in park. Altitude sickness risk at 3,726m. Steep cliffs have caused fatalities.
Transport
Entry via Senaru (north, 600m) or Sembalun Lawang (east, 1,150m). Both accessed from Lombok's north coast road.
Weather
Best climbed April-November dry season. Very cold at summit (4-5°C) year-round. Park closed January-March.
