Overview
Bungmati (also spelled Bungamati) is an ancient Newari village that dates back to the 7th century and once served as an autonomous province within the Kathmandu Valley. The village has remained largely untouched by modern life and globalized living, preserving its traditional Newari dress, lifestyle, and architecture.
