Before you go
Connectivity
No mobile coverage exists. Puerto Edén has one satellite telephone operating 10:00-13:00. Arrange all communications before entering.
Money
The park accepts CLP (Chilean Pesos) for entry fees; USD equivalents are given for foreign visitors. Puerto Edén has very limited services—bring sufficient cash for the duration of your stay.
Packing
Bring all necessary supplies—food, water, proper outdoor gear, first aid, and emergency equipment. No supplies available inside the park.
Safety
No infrastructure exists inside the park. Harsh weather, no emergency services, and extreme remoteness make this suitable only for experienced, self-sufficient adventurers.
Transport
Access is exclusively by boat (ferry takes 3 days from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales) or helicopter. Organized boat tours from Puerto Natales visit key glaciers.
Weather
Patagonian weather is unpredictable with high winds and rain year-round. Visit during austral summer (October-April) for the best conditions, though fees apply then.
