Overview
Zacharo is a small coastal town on the Gulf of Kyparissia offering long sandy beaches, the thermal springs and lake at Kaiafas, and access to Mount Lapithas for hiking. Its proximity to Olympia (18 km south) makes it a practical base for visiting the ancient site while enjoying a quieter, more authentic Greek town atmosphere than tourist-heavy coastal resorts.

The Zacharo tomato is a local specialty famed for its sweetness. Koroneiki olive oil produced locally is extra-virgin quality. Fresh seafood and traditional Greek cuisine are available at harbor tavernas.

Greece uses the euro (€). ATMs are available in Zacharo. Credit cards are accepted at hotels and larger restaurants but cash is preferred at tavernas and small shops.
Transport
Greek National Road 9/E55 passes through Zacharo, connecting Patras to Kalamata. Local train station serves regional rail. Bus connections to Olympia and Pyrgos are limited.
Weather
Zacharo has a pleasant Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild wet winters. Beach season runs May through September with water temperatures comfortable for swimming.
