Overview

Vourvourou is a stripped-back seasonal village on Sithonia's east coast with no real square or historic center. What it lacks in tradition it makes up for in access: the village fronts a string of calm bays and small islands perfect for paddling and snorkeling.

Before you go

Accommodation

Most stays are family-run studios and apartments (rooms to rent). Book peak summer well in advance; many places close entirely outside May-September.

Activities

Boat rental agencies are abundant — reserve 1-2 days ahead in season. No licence needed for most small motorboats. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are also available.

Food

Tavernas line the main road; fresh fish and Greek staples are reliable. Self-catering is easy with local markets and bakeries.

Money

Greece uses the euro (€). ATMs are available in Nikiti; Vourvourou itself may have limited cash access. Carry euros for tavernas and boat rentals.

Transport

A car is nearly essential for exploring Sithonia's beaches from Vourvourou. Renting in Nikiti or at the airport is cheaper than on-site.
