Overview
Varaždin is one of the most important tourist centers of northern Croatia, offering a compact Baroque old town with historic fortifications, museums, and galleries. Located on the Drava river 79 km north of Zagreb, it served as Croatia's capital in 1756 before a devastating fire in 1776 redirected administration to Zagreb.
