Overview
Tzintzuntzán is a small town of 3,500 people on Lake Pátzcuaro in Michoacán, Mexico. The town itself has little touristic value, but the Tzintzuntzan Archaeological Zone draws visitors to the ruins of the once-powerful capital of the Purhepecha people.

Transport
Combis run regularly between Tzintzuntzán and Patzcuaro or Quiroga. Renting a car allows flexibility for visiting multiple sites around Lake Pátzcuaro.

The town sits at approximately 2,100 meters elevation on Lake Pátzcuaro's shore. Evenings can be cool year-round; bring a layer regardless of season.
