Overview

Thaton is a small historic town in Mon State that served as the capital of the Thaton Kingdom from the 4th century BCE to the mid-11th century CE. It is best known for its ancient pagodas, including the famous Shwe Saryan Pagoda believed to have been built in the 5th century BC.
