Tendo is a compact city in Yamagata prefecture famous for a single specialty: manufacturing shogi pieces. Local estimates claim that as many as 95% of all shogi pieces produced in Japan are made here.

Transport
JR Tendo Station is on the Yamagata Shinkansen (3 hours from Tokyo) and JR Ou Main Line. Everything is walkable from the station.
