Overview
This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve offers a quieter alternative to the popular Vinales valley, with 25,000 ha of Sierra del Rosario mountains to explore. The reserve centers on two communities: Soroa, known for its world-class orchid garden and waterfall, and Las Terrazas, a promoted eco-tourism destination.

Before you go
Activities
The Orquideario Soroa is open daily with 700 orchid species. Hikes range from easy (Mirador de Venus, 2 hours) to strenuous (Cafetal Independencia, 6 hours).
Money
Cuba typically uses Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC) and Cuban Pesos (CUP). Carry cash as card acceptance is limited in rural areas.
Transport
No direct public bus runs to Soroa. Hitching or taking a taxi from the highway junction is common. Having your own vehicle provides the most control over timing.
