Overview
Pilica is a drowsy market town of 1900 people in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, also called the Polish Jura for its limestone hills and castles. The main draw is proximity to Smoleń Castle (3 km south) and Pilica Castle itself, though the latter is closed and derelict as of 2024 due to a decades-long ownership dispute.
