Overview
Myoko is a ski-focused mountain city in Niigata prefecture's Chubu region, best known for the massive snowfall that blankets Mount Myoko and its surrounding resorts. The city formed in 2005 from the merger of Myōkōkōgen, Arai City, and Myōkō Village, combining several hot spring towns into one destination.

Activities
Three major ski resorts (Suginohara, Ikenotaira Onsen/Alpen Blick, Akakura Onsen & Akakura Kanko) plus smaller resorts at Seki Onsen and Kyukamura.
Transport
Myoko is accessible via the JR Shin-etsu Line (Echigo-Tokimeki Line) and Joshin-etsu Expressway. The nearest stations are on the Echigo-Tokimeki Line connecting to Niigata and Nagano.
Weather
The region receives approximately 13 meters of annual snowfall, with peak ski season running December through March.
