Schistosomiasis risk exists in Lake Victoria — swimming is not recommended even near Tunza Lodge.

Tanzanian Shilling (TSh) is the currency. ATMs available at Kenya Commercial Bank, Equity Bank, Ecobank, I&M Bank, and DTB — most accept Mastercard and Visa with varying fees.
Safety
Don't carry wallets in market areas. Avoid pikipiki motorcycles due to traffic risks. Lake swimming carries schistosomiasis risk.
Transport
Daladalas cost TSh300 per trip. Taxis should be white cars with white plates (commercial). Pikipikis (motorcycle taxis) are dangerous — use at your own risk.
