Overview

Mengla (勐腊) is a county-level border town in southern Yunnan where China meets Laos and Myanmar. Unlike the more developed Xishuangbanna hub of Jinghong, Mengla offers a slower pace with accessible ethnic minority villages (Dai and Jinuo) within 10 km of the town center, untagged rainforest for trekking, and distinctive cross-border culture including Lao hot pot restaurants and a lively local market.
