Overview
Machalilla National Park is one of Ecuador's largest coastal protected areas, spanning over 75,000 hectares along the Pacific coast. The park offers a rare combination of pristine beaches, excellent snorkeling and diving at Isla de la Plata, and archaeological sites showcasing six pre-Colombian cultures at Agua Blanca.

Activities
Key activities include snorkeling at Isla de la Plata, hiking three marked trails (6.4 km, 5 km, and 2.7 km), birdwatching (270 species), and visiting the archaeological museum at Agua Blanca.
Transport
Fly into Guayaquil International Airport (GYE), then travel by bus or hired driver to reach the park. No direct public transit is available.
Wildlife
Marine wildlife includes sea turtles, tropical fish, manta rays, and humpback whales. Bird species include blue-footed, red-footed, and Nazca boobies. The Pacoche Forest is home to monkeys.
