Overview
Kärdla is the biggest and only town on Hiiumaa, Estonia's second-largest island in the Baltic Sea. Founded as a Swedish settlement in the 14th century, it grew around an 1829 broadcloth textile factory whose directors' house (the Long House) still stands as the Hiiumaa Museum.
