Overview
Kabale is a market town and transport hub in southwestern Uganda, sitting 2,000 m (6,600 ft) above sea level and 420 km southwest of Kampala. The town serves as the main road junction between Kampala, the Rwandan border at Katuna (10 km south), and Kisoro to the west.

Wi-Fi is unreliable in Kabale. The Home Of Edirisa is the only confirmed working Wi-Fi spot. Mobile data coverage exists but quality varies.
Money
Ugandan Shilling (USh) is the local currency. ATMs available at Stanbic Bank, Equity Bank, and Crane Bank accept Mastercard and Visa cards. The economy is largely cash-based in Kabale; carry sufficient cash for local transactions.

Kabale is generally safe for travelers. Standard precautions apply regarding valuables and awareness in crowded market areas. Gorilla tracking requires permits booked in advance.
Transport
Kabale is a transport hub with bus connections to Kampala (8 hours), Mbarara (3 hours), Kisoro (2 hours), and the Rwandan border at Katuna. Boda-boda motorcycles are the primary local transport within town.
