Overview
Ibarra is a colonial city of 100,000 inhabitants and the capital of Imbabura province, positioned halfway to the Ecuador-Colombia border at Tulcán. It preserves much of its colonial architecture in the city center with clean, picturesque plazas, offering a quieter alternative for those visiting Otavalo's markets while remaining a short 30-minute bus ride away.
