Overview
Hell's Gate National Park, established in 1984, is one of Kenya's few parks where visitors can walk and cycle among wildlife without safari vehicles. The park features dramatic landscapes including the narrow Hell's Gate Gorge sculpted by water, the 25 m Fischer's Tower volcanic column, and Central Tower columns.

Before you go
Connectivity
Mobile reception is generally good near gates but can be weak in deeper gorges and cliff areas.
Money
Entry fees must be paid by credit card (no cash accepted) via kws.ecitizen.go.ke or at the gate. Bicycle rentals cost up to Ksh 500, negotiable. Maasai crafts like belts start at Ksh 10,000 but can be bargained to Ksh 2,000.
Safety
Stay on designated trails. Flash floods in gorges kill—check weather before entering. Give buffalo wide berth. Carry 1-2 liters water per person. Baboons may steal food from picnic areas.
Transport
Most visitors drive or take taxis from Naivasha. Uber from Nairobi costs around Ksh 10,000. Bike rental is available at the park entrance and nearby hotels.
Weather
Open grassland and exposed rock mean intense sun. March-May and November bring flash flood risk in gorges. Dry seasons are best for hiking.
