Overview
Haast is a tiny scattered settlement at the southern end of the West Coast, sitting at the boundary of Mount Aspiring National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Area. Travelers typically stop here en route between Wanaka and the glacier towns, drawn by the dramatic coastal rainforest, river valleys, and access to some of New Zealand's most untouched wilderness.
