Overview
Edfu exists because of the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved ancient temple in Egypt and arguably the finest example of Greco-Roman Egyptian architecture. Built from 237 BC over nearly two centuries, its massive pylon, hypostyle halls, and intact inscriptions survived buried under sand until the 19th century.
