Overview
Dien Bien Phu is a remote frontier town in northwestern Vietnam, best known as the site of the decisive Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954, where General Vo Nguyen Giap's Viet Minh forces defeated the French Union garrison after a 57-day siege. The battle ended major French involvement in Indochina and led directly to the Geneva Accords.
