Overview
Cerro Azul Meámbar National Park (known locally as PANACAM) protects cloud forest in the Sierra Pijol mountain range within the Honduran Central Highlands. The park offers well-developed tourist infrastructure including a paved park road, marked hiking trails, a visitor center, on-site lodging, and a restaurant.

Malaria and dengue are present in the region. Use DEET repellent, wear protective clothing, and consider prophylaxis after consulting a travel clinic.
Safety
Hike in groups when exploring backcountry trails. Local guides are recommended for the Sinai Trail and other challenging routes.
Transport
Moto-taxis in La Guama or Santa Elena charge approximately L 100 for the 20-minute ride to the park visitor center.
Weather
Tropical rainforest climate with year-round heat and humidity. Early mornings are best for birdwatching when forest canopy views are clearest.
