Overview
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Western Uganda, famous for viewing mountain gorillas in the wild. It is the most popular national park in Uganda, offering gorilla treks, hiking, bird watching, and cultural tours with the Batwa people.

Money
Gorilla permit US$800 cash only. No ATMs nearby; withdraw in Kabale, Kisoro, or Kihihi.
Safety
All treks require UWA rangers. Malaria risk (none at altitude in Buhoma/Nkoringo). Steep terrain.
Transport
Bus from Kampala to Kabale (8 hrs), then to Butogota. Flights to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrips available.
Water
Tap water not safe. Drink boiled, filtered, or bottled water provided by lodges.
Weather
Dry season June-August, temps 9-30°C. Rain likely; bring rain gear and sturdy boots.
