Chaguanas is the de facto capital of central Trinidad, serving as a major market town and transit hub between Port of Spain and San Fernando. The city is the heart of Indo-Trinidadian culture on the island, most famously during the Divali Nagar festival around October-November when elaborate celebrations draw visitors from across the country.

San Fernando is Trinidad's busy second city, built on hills including the most famous in Trinidad - San Fernando Hill. It is very much a carnival city, experiencing a full build-up to its own wide assortment of competitions in Skinner Park as well as energetic parades.

Scarborough is the capital and main city of Tobago, the smaller of the two islands that make up Trinidad and Tobago. While smaller than Port of Spain, it serves as the administrative center and a convenient base for exploring Tobago's beaches, rainforests, and natural attractions.
