Overview
Zacualpan de Amilpas is a small rural town of about 9,000 residents in Morelos, Mexico. The town is notable for its 16th-century Augustinian monastery complex, one of several historic monasteries on the slopes of Popocatépetl that collectively make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The town maintains traditional barter practices at its weekly market. Each year a young woman is designated 'Reina de Trueque' (Barter Queen) to promote the system.
