Overview
Yurihonjo is a sprawling city in southern Akita Prefecture formed by the 2005 merger of seven former towns. Its heart remains Honjo, where you'll find the main train station and most services.

Transport
A car is essential for exploring beyond Honjo. Parking is free and plentiful throughout the city.
Weather
July is rainy season. Winters bring heavy snow inland for skiing (Dec-Mar), but coastal areas get only light snow.
