Overview
Yading is a remote Tibetan plateau nature reserve in western Sichuan featuring three sacred peaks, glacier-fed lakes, and pristine high-altitude landscapes. The area sits at 4,000m elevation with the gateway town of Xiānggélǐlā (香格里拉镇) rebuilt below 3,000m specifically to help visitors acclimatize.

Before you go
Altitude
The entire park sits above 4,000m. Spend time in the gateway town (below 3,000m) to acclimatize before ascending. Altitude sickness is a real risk.
Fees
Entrance fee ¥270 (¥200 for students), minibus inside park ¥50 one-way or ¥90 return. Tickets require passport copy for foreign visitors.
Payment
Automatic ticket machines only accept WeChat Pay. Ask someone to help pay with cash if needed. ATM available at park entrance.
Transport
No direct public transport from Daocheng to park; rely on private shared vans or chartered cars. Bus schedule reduced November-March.
Weather
May-October best for hiking; December-April heavy snow makes trails difficult. Cold nights year-round despite summer daytime temperatures.
