Overview
Waihi Beach is a small coastal town in the western Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand, north of Tauranga Harbour and near the base of Coromandel Peninsula. The town offers nine kilometres of sweeping white sand with one of the safest surf breaks in New Zealand.

New Zealand Dollar (NZD) is the local currency. ATMs and card payments are widely accepted in New Zealand towns.
Safety
The north end of the beach is the safest for swimming and the surf club patrols through summer. ANZAC Bay offers sheltered swimming at high tide.
Transport
Public transport is extremely limited with only 8 buses per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays only). Driving is recommended for most visitors.
Weather
Summer months (December-February) are peak season for beach activities. Water activities are best during these warmer months.
