Tauranga Airport has Air New Zealand flights from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. Intercity buses connect Tauranga to Hamilton, Rotorua, and beyond. A car is recommended for exploring waterfalls and regional day trips.

Tauranga enjoys a warm, dry climate with over 2,000 sunshine hours annually, making it one of New Zealand's sunniest cities. Summers are warm (20-25C) with sea breezes; winters are mild but wetter.
