Overview

Viesca is one of Mexico's designated Pueblos Mágicos, a small desert town that serves as the gateway to the spectacular Bilbao Dunes — a protected natural area of Sahara-like sand dunes that has been used as a filming location for several movies. The town itself has colonial history dating to the 1590s and a handful of modest but pleasant sights, making it an easy half-day or overnight trip from nearby Torreón.
