Overview
Tlaxcala is Mexico's smallest state capital and one of its most overlooked colonial cities. The historic center features buildings painted in burnt umber, salmon pink, and mustard yellow, centered on the 75-meter Plaza de la Constitución established in 1524.

Tlaxcala is generally considered safe for travelers. Standard urban precautions apply in busy areas. The compact historic center is well-trafficked during daylight hours.
Transport
Bus is the primary public transport option. Verdes connects to Puebla (M$37, 50 min). Suprabus runs to Mexico City (M$200, 1h50). Taxis available for local travel.
