Overview
Suzdal is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the crown jewel of the Golden Ring, preserving centuries of Russian architecture that elsewhere fell to war or modernization. With under 10,000 residents, it maintains a rural character—chickens in the streets, unpaved lanes, meadows and streams—that contrasts strikingly with its stunning white-stone cathedrals and monasteries.
