Overview
Suphanburi is a historically rich Thai province 100km north of Bangkok that receives far fewer foreign visitors than nearby Ayutthaya. The town dates back 3,500-3,800 years based on archaeological evidence from the New Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age.

Buddhist town with significant Chinese community heritage. Alms-offering ceremonies at Chinese shrine occur on full moon of 7th lunar month.
Food
Famous for Sali Suphan chiffon cake, honey roasted duck, baked chicken, dried fish and beef, termite mushrooms, and canned water chestnuts. Old Sam Chuk Market has traditional desserts.

Salee Ekachai accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, and JCB. Cash is readily available from banks and ATMs throughout the town center.
Transport
Local transport includes tuk-tuks, songthaews, and buses within town. Songthaews, buses, and vans connect to surrounding districts. Motorbike rental available for independent exploration.
