Why Go

Shizuoka serves as the primary gateway to Mount Fuji, Japan's most iconic landmark. The city combines Edo-period history with its status as Japan's leading tea-producing region, offering travelers a blend of cultural sites and culinary experiences. Its strategic location on the Tokaido Shinkansen between Tokyo and Osaka makes it an accessible destination for those exploring central Japan. The city absorbed the former port city of Shimizu in 2005, expanding its coastal attractions and access to fresh seafood.
