Overview
Kakegawa is a mid-sized city in Shizuoka Prefecture best known for its reconstructed castle keep and the Kakegawa Flower and Bird Park, a 7,000-m² indoor habitat where owls, parakeets, and toucans fly freely. The city offers a quieter alternative to Shizuoka or Hamamatsu, with hot springs, historic castle ruins, and tea culture in a manageable small-city format.
