Santa Clara is Cuba's most centrally located major city and serves as the capital of Villa Clara province. The city is famous worldwide as the final resting place of revolutionary Che Guevara, whose mausoleum and museum draw visitors from across the globe.

Internet access is limited and expensive. Some cafes like Dino's Pizza offer internet for around US$5 per session. WiFi hotspots exist but require purchase of internet cards.
Money
Cuba uses two currencies: CUP (Cuban peso) and CUC (convertible peso). Casa particulars typically quote prices in CUC or USD. Credit cards issued by US banks are generally not accepted.

Santa Clara is generally safe for tourists. Normal urban precautions apply regarding belongings and avoiding isolated areas at night.
Transport
Pedicabs cost US$1-5 for city trips. Agree on taxi fares before departure. The railway station on Avenida de la Unión connects to major cities.
