Overview
Samcheok is a mid-sized coastal city in southern Gangwon-do offering a slower pace than nearby Donghae. Its main draws are two spectacular show caves—Hwanseon Cave and Daegeum Cave—combined with a string of sandy beaches along the Geundeok coastline and access to rugged mountain valleys like Eungbongsan.
