Overview
Rocha is the capital of Rocha Department in Uruguay's Atlantic coast region, but unlike the popular beach towns of the department, the city itself is not a tourist destination. It serves primarily as an administrative center and transit hub where travelers change buses en route to destinations like Cabo Polonio, La Paloma, and Punta del Este.
