Tropical heat and humidity year-round (22-33°C). Dry season May-September brings occasional friagem cold snaps. Hotter, drier period August-September with temperatures reaching 37°C and wildfire risk.
Food
Local specialties: açaí with manioc flour, tacacá (jambu broth). Street market sweets using tucumã and cupuaçu. Orange juice vendors near Gameleira: R$3-5.
Language
Portuguese is the official language. Some knowledge of Spanish helps at the Bolivian border.
Money
Brazilian Real (BRL) is the currency. ATMs widely available. Credit cards accepted at hotels and restaurants but carry cash for markets and street food.
Transport
City buses cost R$4 with free transfers at Terminal Urbano. Taxis and ride-sharing available. Shared taxis to Bolivian border at Cobija.
