Overview
Ramanattukara is a useful Malabar junction for Kozhikode, Feroke, Beypore, paddy-field walks, temples, and village-scale detours. Its halwa stalls and low-cost local transport add character to what is otherwise a practical stopover.
Languages: English, Hindi, Tamil
Why Go
Ramanattukara serves as a busy junction where roads from Palakkad and Trivandrum meet before heading toward Kozhikode. This small Kerala town is known locally for its Kozhikodan halwa, available at stalls along Manjeri Road. The town functions more as a transit point and local hub than a destination in itself, but offers access to nearby villages, paddy fields, and temples without the tourist crowds of larger Malabar cities.

Understand
Ramanattukara was historically known as Kandungan Chira village before becoming the junction town it is today. The town sits at a strategic crossroads in northern Kerala, connecting travelers between major destinations while serving as a local commercial center for surrounding communities.

Getting Around
Autorikshaws charge ₹15 per kilometer for local trips. Local buses operate at ₹10 for approximately 3 kilometers of travel. Walking is described as difficult due to numerous motorcycles on even village roads, so motorized transport is recommended for getting around the area.
