Before you go
Accommodation
Peterhof has only a few hotels; most visitors stay in Saint Petersburg and treat Peterhof as a day trip. Saint Petersburg offers extensive accommodation options for all budgets.
Connectivity
Free WiFi "Obit" is available near the palace. Arrange Russian SIM cards or ensure international roaming is activated before visiting for broader connectivity.
Culture
Peterhof reflects Peter the Great's fascination with Western Europe, incorporating Dutch and German influences. The area's naming reflects this history, and WWII occupation left scars still visible in memorials.
Money
Russia uses Russian Rubles (RUB). Credit card acceptance at the palace complex and larger establishments is likely but bring cash for kiosks and small cafes. Exchange currency in Saint Petersburg for better rates.
Transport
The most scenic route from Saint Petersburg is the 30-minute hydrofoil; buses and marshrutkas take 40-60 minutes. Return to Saint Petersburg by any of these options throughout the day.
