Overview
Përmet is Albania's self-proclaimed greenest and cleanest town, nicknamed the "city of roses" for its flower-filled streets. The small city sits along the Vjosa River valley, surrounded by mountains including Nëmërçkë (2,485 m), Dhëmbel (2,080 m), and Trebeshina (1,922 m).

Activities
Hot springs at Bënjë, the Big Rock monument, Ottoman bridges, Langarica Canyon kayaking, and hiking in Fir of Hotova National Park are the main attractions. Summer is peak season for hot springs.
Food
Përmet is known for gliko (fruit preserves), hearty Albanian cuisine, local raki, and glycoca liqueur. Restaurants cluster around Shëtitorja Mentor Xhemali near the main square.
Money
Albania's currency is the lek (ALL). Cash is preferred in Përmet; ATMs may be limited. Exchange currency at banks in town or carry leks from larger cities.
Transport
Përmet is reached via the SH75 road, 70 km from Gjirokastër and 230 km from Tirana. Public buses are infrequent; many travelers rely on hitchhiking or private transport. The town is near two Greek border crossings.
