Overview
Pella is a small village built atop Ancient Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great and capital of the Macedonian kingdom. The archaeological site features remarkable pebble-mosaic floors reproducing Greek paintings, including a lion-griffin attacking a stag and Dionysus riding a leopard.
